Loin des itinéraires touristiques tracés, le collège vous propose cette année un voyage
en plein coeur du Caucase.
 
 ‘La Géorgie est un royaume ancien, mais un état récemment indépendant, à la chute de l'Union Soviétique en 1991.
 
Dans cette région souvent méconnue, le voyageur qui entreprend de découvrir la Géorgie ne sera pas déçu du déplacement : de beaux paysages de montagnes, un patrimoine historique ancien, les rivages de la Mer Noire... l'antique Colchide a conservé bien des trésors !’
 
Ce voyage aura lieu du 27 avril au 1er mai 2016.

Day 1/APR 27: TBILISI – Arrival

TOUR PROGRAM 2016
 
Day 1: Arrival in Tbilisi – Transfer to the Hotel

Arrive in Tbilisi International Airport. Check in after 15:00 p.m. Transfer to the Hotel. Lunch and Dinner is not included. Overnight in Tbilisi.
 
Day 2: Tbilisi – Bodbe – Sighnaghi – Tsinandali – Tbilisi

Breakfast at the hotel. After breakfast drive towards Kakheti region - the biggest and the most important winemaking region in Georgia, which is famous with its hospitality, delicious food and ancient Georgian technique of winemaking which dates back to the 8th century BC. Visit Bodbe monastery on the way.Arrive in 18thcentury Royal town of Signaghi.Surrounded by the longest defensive wall in the region with 23 towers, Signaghi was an important strategic place where the Silk Road travelers from Asia and Europe used to pass on their way. Have wine degustation in local winery in Sighnaghi. Visit Tsinandali Family Estate and wine cellar, which once belonged to the 19th century aristocratic poet

Day 3: Tbilisi - Ananuri - Kazbegi - Gergeti Trinity Church - Tbilisi

After Breakfast drive to the north, along the Georgian Military Highway. Make short stop to see 16th c. fortress Ananuri, overlooking Jinvali reservoir. Continue journey via one of the highest settlements in Europe - Gudauri (2,100m) and Cross Pass (2379 m). Arrive in Kazbegi, hike uptothe 14th centuryTrinity Church,located at the beautiful, solitary spot on the top of the hill, at an elevation of 2170 m. The walk takes about 3 hours(Transportation up to the church by 4WD vehicles is NOT included, can be arranged on supplementary basis). Enjoy the breathtaking view of snow cowered Mount Kazbeg - extinct volcano which is the third highest mountain of Georgia (5,047m) and one of the most popular destinations for alpinists. Drive back Tbilisi. Lunch and Dinner is Not Included. Overnight at hotel in Tbilisi.
 
Day 4: Tbilisi – Mtskheta –Tbilisi City Tour

After Breakfast explore ancient town of Mtskheta. Visit two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Jvari Monastery (6th c) and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral - the 11th c. fortified church, referred as the most sacred place for Georgians. After visit drive back to Tbilisi and enjoy the sightseeing tour of old part of the city - the multicultural and multi religious city with 1500 years of history. Visit Metekhi - 12th-13th century cross-cupola church which used to be the part of Royal residential complex. Have a look at statue of Mother of Georgia, Narikala Fortress. Visit Sulfur Bath Area, Tbilisi Synagogue and Sioni Cathedral. Have a look at Tbilisi Mosque. Walk along the narrow streets of the old town, full with souvenir shops, wine shops, cafes and art galleries. OPTIONAL: visit Archaeological Treasury Hall in Georgian National Museum on supplementary basis, where you will see the examples of ancient gold and silver objects and jewelry made by early Georgian goldsmiths (NOT Included). Lunch and Dinner is Not Included. Overnight at hotel in Tbilisi.
 
Day 5: Tbilisi – Departure
Breakfast at Hotel. Check out till 12:00 p.m. Transfer to Tbilisi International Airport. Departure.
